Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (divided)
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons ginger, minced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and sesame oil. Let it marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, water, sugar, and beef broth to make the sauce. Set aside.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger, and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir well to coat the beef and broccoli evenly.
  6. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For extra tender beef, slice it against the grain.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Substitute soy sauce with tamari for a gluten-free version.
