    • ½ cup granulated sugar
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the apple filling:

    • 4 cups apples, peeled & diced
    • ½ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Prepare the crust/topping: In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in vanilla. Press half into the pan.
  • Bake the crust for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Make the filling: Toss apples with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Spread over the baked crust.
  • Add the topping: Crumble the remaining dough over the apples.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Cool completely before cutting into bars.
