  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup brewed espresso (cooled)
  • 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)

For the Mascarpone Frosting:

  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  • Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  • Divide batter into liners and bake for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
  • Brush cooled cupcakes with espresso and coffee liqueur mixture.
  • Prepare frosting by whipping mascarpone, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.

  • Pipe frosting onto cupcakes and dust with cocoa powder before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute coffee liqueur with additional espresso for an alcohol-free version.
  • Store cupcakes in the refrigerator and serve chilled for a true tiramisu experience.
